This summer has been a whirlwind of activity and I can't believe it's already time for back-to-school shopping. Where has the time gone? And why is it that the older we get, the faster time seems to go? (heavy sigh.....)
Speaking of getting older, guess who sent her first-born off to college yesterday? That would be me! (again with the heavy sigh.....) Much of the summer has been devoted to college preparations, and yesterday was finally Football Star Son's big day to officially "leave the nest" and go off to school. The first order of business (or was it the last order of business) was for FSS to say his good-byes.
As you can see, he was quite sad to be leaving....
And on the girls' side of the dorm, the lovely Sarah was getting her room ready...
Sarah's room-mate's side of the room. Oy.
I am so excited for you honey! Be good, and remember, "Go Slow and Say No!" We love you and we're only a phone call away if you need us!

oh... poor jeanie! this post makes ME want to cry... i can't imagine how you're feeling... *hugs*

Hey Stranger! Nice to see you back in Blogland!
Yeah, I know that it's sad...but it's bound to happen sooner or later. And I'm sure he'll be in touch. :-) *hugs*

Just brought my FSS back to college this past Wednesday. (For me, FSS stands for Favorite Second Son!) If your son is like mine, he'll call or instant message you so often it will feel like he's still home. Isn't it amazing that 2 people can live in those dorm rooms?!?

Feeling your pain as well. Munchkin goes back to SFA this week as a Senior. I get misty eyed every time I think about it. Trouble went back to SH this weekend and has already called twice today, and she is a Junior.
It does get better, I promise!

Awwwww, that IS sad! I'll bet he's going to miss you sooner than he thinks, though. . .hehehe

Glad to see you back! Don't worry, he'll be back soon enough needing something! I sure was after I first started college. My little guys meet their teachers tonight. The time really does fly.

He looks soooo happy and ready to go. You also have a big smile. Why do I suspect both of you are faking it just a tidbit?
I know this is difficult for you. Phone, email, and text messages will help.

What a huge step for y'all. I'm sure he is totally prepared for college. He had a wonderful momma to get him ready.

Jeanie, oh gosh, you're making me misty-eyed. This is truly a bittersweet occasion. Hugs to you - you've been such a wonderful Mom to him and letting go, even a little, is the hard part. It wasn't that long ago when you sent him off to Kindergarten, was it?
