I'm looking for a knit afghan pattern to use to make Football Star Son a maroon & gold Texas State University afghan using Wool-Ease Thick & Quick (in Claret and Butterscotch). I decided on a very "practical" wool blend yarn (as opposed to 100% wool) that would hold up if accidentally (or intentionally) thrown into the dorm washing machine. Besides, it's not like a maroon and gold afghan will be much of an heirloom or have a shelf-life of more than about 4 years or so. Anyway, I feel that the yarn is too thick to crochet with so this is why I'm looking for a knit pattern. The thing is that I want it to reversible and most knit afghan patterns I've found aren't. So, does anybody know of any reversible two-colored afghan patterns that would make a nice thick afghan?
Also, I've fallen in love with a book that I wanted to show y'all. It's called Ella Rae Bags (Book #8) and has some really cute knit felted bag patterns. I hope to try some of these bags out substituting crochet where possible and incorporating the knit embellishments when needed. Some of my favorite patterns in this book are:
and
Okay, back to crocheting with ecru string!

How funny is it that the ones you pictured are the ones I favored as well. They are all great...a perfect resource.

On the Thick & Quick question, I agree, it's way to bulky to crochet. My first thought was if you want to go fast and easy to do strips of each color (maybe 6"-8" wide or so) in st st and join them so that the "right side" of the gold is facing one way and the "right side" of the maroon is facing the other way. That will also mostly eliminate having the weight of a whole lot of T&Q on you at once.

I ran a quick search on reversible knit afghans and came up with this link

They have both knit and crochet patterns. Hope this helps!

Oops, the link above got truncated. Pasting it into URL spot. It's not my blog (don't have one) just the link to the afghan patterns.

I received my yarn today!!! I love the color. Thank you!!! Try me again next year -- the older I get, the younger your father will look. Love the felted bags - especially the pink one (second one).

I'm really impressed with the fact that you are working on THREE afghans. I can't even manage to finished the baby blanket I'm working on.
Have you started meeting with yarn reps yet? They are making the rounds right now. The one we met with yesterday was snippy with us. Bad move.
